Practice Schedule/Game Schedule:
The Fall season begins in early September (optional pre-season training to begin in late August) and goes until mid-November. Every WPL Club practice will be held on a Tuesday and Thursday night this Fall season across the town of Wellesley. Games are played either home or away on Sundays in both the Fall and Spring. Teams may play a pre-season scrimmage and 2-4 tournaments per year, depending upon the age group and competitive level of the team. Each team will practice 75 minutes per session, 2 times a week. WPL Club players are expected to attend all team practices and games. Please note that players should be prepared to travel to various parts of MA, RI and CT for games. The winter sessions begins in January and goes through the month of March information will be sent out later this year. Our Spring schedule is yet to be determined as WPL Club works closely with other Wellesley Town sports to best accommodate our multi-sport athletes. Although conflicts are not guaranteed we do try our best
The number of teams formed in an age group will depend on the number of players who try out and their ability levels. Should their be a need for a second team, these teams are tiered (according to ability) as an ’A’ team and a ’B’ team.
Players are selected to the appropriate team based on a number of criteria including the player’s birth year, ability, previous WPL Club coach’s feedback and their tryout performance.
2010 - Teams 7 vs. 7 game format
2009 - 2008 - Teams 9 vs. 9 game format
2007 - 2005 - Teams 11 vs. 11 game format
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: In order to be eligible to play on a WPL club team, all players must commit to participating full in the 2 days of the WPL club program every week, as well as their town practice and game (WUSC in-town and Bays) and the WPL Club team Sunday game. If your son or daughter cannot make a consistent commitment to the WPL Club and Wellesley Town Soccer due to other conflicts or activities, then signing up for the WPL Club team would not be an appropriate option for your player.
Refund Policy: Full refund (less $30 admin fee) up to 5 days after teams are announced, 50% refund up to Aug. 5, no refund after Aug. 5th. If a player is not placed on a team a full refund will be issued. If a player is selected as a practice player, a partial refund will be issued.
