WUSC is proud to introduce our new Futsal Academy program. This program aims to introduce players to futsal and elevate their technical skills for competitive futsal team play. Similar to our futsal club program, the futsal academy will be year-based. Players born between 2012 and 2016 can register for the Futsal Academy. The academy program is separate from futsal club and will consist of one practice per week, with no weekend games.

All programs are open to players who live in Wellesley or attend school in Wellesley.

What is Futsal?

Futsal is a fast-paced, indoor version of soccer that is played on a smaller, hard court with a smaller ball. It emphasizes ball control, quick decision-making, close quarters passing, and individual skill development. The game is played with teams of five players per side, including a goalkeeper. Futsal is known for its exciting and skillful style of play, and it is recognized by FIFA and UEFA as a valuable tool for player development.

Why Play Futsal?

Playing futsal offers several benefits for young soccer players:

Improved Ball Control: The smaller, heavier ball and tight playing space require precise ball control, helping players improve their dribbling and close-quarters skills. With only 5 players on the court per team, players get a lot more touches on the ball compared to traditional soccer.

Quick Decision-Making: The fast paced game and smaller space require players to think and react quickly, enhancing their decision-making abilities on the field.

We believe that futsal will complement our existing soccer program and help our players become more well-rounded athletes. We encourage all eligible players to attend the tryouts and be part of this exciting new journey.
